Random vowel and random consonant: The letter filter mirrors our number tool’s odd/even rules. Can I generate a random vowel or consonant?
Yes. Open the Letter filter dropdown and choose Vowels only (A, E, I, O, U) or Consonants only (the other 21 letters). Perfect when you searched for a random vowel or random consonant and want a fair pick from that subset.
Can I generate multiple random letters at once?
Set How many letters from 1 to 1000 and click Generate. Up to 25 letters appear as copyable tiles; larger batches switch to a text view with comma, space, newline, JSON, and spreadsheet-friendly copy formats. Download .txt or .csv anytime.
What does Allow duplicates do?
When checked, the same letter can appear more than once in a batch — like rolling a letter die repeatedly. Uncheck it for unique draws without replacement (max 26 all letters, 5 vowels, or 21 consonants depending on your filter). The tool shows a clear error if you ask for more unique letters than exist in the pool.
Are random letters generated in the browser?
Yes. Every letter uses cryptographically secure randomness from crypto.getRandomValues() via our shared random core — never Math.random(). Nothing uploads to a server. Recent results in the session history stay in memory until you refresh.
