Random food generator — what to eat tonight?
Staring at the fridge wondering what to eat? HitRandom’s random food generator picks fairly from a bundled list of 514 foods and dishes — breakfast plates, street food, comfort classics, desserts, and global favorites. One click gives you a single tile you can copy instantly; raise the quantity to build bulk lists for meal-planning roulette, party games, or “random dish” challenges with friends.
Real dishes, curated list: Every name is a recognizable meal or snack — margherita pizza, pad thai, fish and chips, chicken tikka masala, chocolate cake, and hundreds more. The list is deduplicated and stored as JSON shipped with the tool, so picks are fast and offline-friendly. No made-up menu items — just a practical random meal generator for anyone who searched random food, random dish, or what should I eat and wanted an answer in under a second.
Crypto-secure randomness: Each pick uses crypto.getRandomValues() and unbiased selection — the same engine behind our dice roller and UUID tools. Unique mode shuffles without replacement when Allow duplicates is off. No Math.random(), no server round-trip, no login.
Bulk random foods: Generate up to 50 foods per click. Twenty-five or fewer show as compact orange tiles with individual copy buttons. Larger batches open a text panel with comma-separated, space-separated, one-per-line, tab, column, and JSON formats. Copy all, download .txt or .csv, and revisit recent batches from session history. Optional bell sound; history stays in memory until refresh.
Built on the dataset-picker pattern: Same reusable component as our Random Animal Generator — swap the JSON dataset and labels; the UI, copy formats, threshold display, and crypto RNG stay identical. That keeps every HitRandom list tool consistent while each page owns its SEO and curated data.
Who uses this: Couples deciding dinner, roommates running “random takeout” night, teachers doing food trivia, streamers doing chat meal challenges, and anyone tired of scrolling delivery apps. Pair with HitRandom’s Yes/No Generator (“order in?”) and Wheel Spinner in Games & Decisions — or List Randomizer when you already have a custom menu to shuffle.
